The San Francisco 49ers have been busy on the trade market of late, recently adding defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. The move comes as the 49ers look to bounce back after an ugly loss at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons over the weekend, handing them their first defeat of the season.
Some have speculated that the 49ers might look to reunite with wide receiver Jauan Jennings in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, but recently, cold water was dumped on this notion by NFL insider Tom Pelissero of The Ringer.
"I would think the 49ers will turn their attention to stopping the revolving door at receiver. I don't see a Jauan Jennings reunion being an option at this time," reported Pelissero on his Substack. "Quentin Johnston doesn't necessarily strike me as a fit for the 49ers, and his fully guaranteed $18 million option for 2027 will scare some people off."

Pelissero also reported on the status of Brandon Aiyuk, who inexplicably remains a member of the 49ers despite over a year of trade or release talk.
"As for Brandon Aiyuk, he hasn't played in two years, and I'm not even sure he's healthy. Until he shows up to force his exit from the 49ers—something he has said he won't do—there's really no reason to discuss him," he reported.
Jennings was a reliable target for Brock Purdy over the years, and has had a relatively quiet tenure thus far in Minnesota, causing some to wonder if a change of scenery back to the Bay Area might help both him and the 49ers kickstart their seasons.
However, for now, it doesn't seem that 49ers fans should hold their breath.
