New Marvin Harrison Jr. Trade Rumors on Cardinals WR Amid Struggles to Start 2026 NFL Season

Teams around the NFL are keeping an eye on wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.'s status with the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano .

Graziano reported Wednesday that "execs around the league are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading" Harrison.

"Harrison is extension-eligible after this season, and as of now, the Cardinals would have a hard time paying him based on what he's shown in the league so far," Graziano reported. "It's worth watching out for a potential change-of-scenery deal in this case."

Underperforming Players With the Most to Prove 🏈

Harrison, the No. 4 pick of the 2024 draft, is currently signed through the 2027 season with a 2028 club option on his rookie contract . He has made one catch for 33 yards through two games of his third NFL season.

Harrison was targeted twice in Week 2, although one target was erased due to a penalty and he made no receptions in the Cardinals' 31-7 loss to the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said after Sundays's loss he didn't see Harrison's lack of production as connected to any issues with his effort level.

"The spots he was trying to get to, he was getting to, we just weren't able to connect," LaFleur said.

LaFleur continued, "I know it's like, 'Well, just get some easy completions to get going.' And that's fine. You also have Trey McBride, who's one of the best underneath guys in the world, and there's only about 60, 65 plays a game."

He added it was a "long season" and indicated he felt Harrison could see more usage in the future depending on the defensive scheme of the teams the Cardinals line up again.

McBride has gotten the largest target share among Jacoby Brissett's pass-catchers so far this season, hauling down 17 receptions on 23 targets for 136 yards and two touchdowns.

Among Cardinals receivers, most targets have gone to veteran wideout Kendrick Bourne and Michael Wilson Jr., the latter of which signed a three-year, $75 million extension with $47 million guaranteed earlier this month.

McBride signed his own extension last offseason, giving the Cardinals two long-term pass-catching options even if the franchise decides to move on from Harrison.

The Cardinals could potentially receive increase trade interest in Harrison should he see more usage ahead of the deadline. Whether the franchise will actually consider selling in November could depend on how LaFleur is able to help his team build on their 1-1 start, starting Sunday with a road game against the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers.
