CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Owen Herrick has made his choice.

The Class of 2028 quarterback committed to Illinois on Wednesday. Herrick attends Pittsburgh Central Catholic and gives Bret Bielema and the Illini their first hard commitment in the 2028 class.

Herrick is listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds and is rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports. The website ranks him as the No. 29 quarterback nationally and the No. 12 prospect in Pennsylvania. He held ten offers before choosing Illinois, with Nebraska, Ole Miss and Syracuse among the programs in his recruitment.

With Sladen Shack already in the 2027 class, Herrick gives Bret Bielema and the Illini another quarterback piece to build around in the future.

For Herrick, the message after making his decision was pretty simple: "I'm home!! I-L-L."
