Falcons release former Georgia running back from practice squad

Falcons sign former Alabama RB to practice squad, release RB Cash Jones

· 220 words

The Atlanta Falcons signed rookie running back Jam Miller to their practice squad and released former Georgia RB Cash Jones in a corresponding move on Tuesday. Miller was selected in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

However, Miller was released by the Patriots back in August and has yet to make his NFL debut. The former Alabama standout rushed for 1,596 yards and 13 touchdowns, while adding 40 catches for 339 receiving yards over his four-year college career.

Miller was one of six players to work out for the Falcons last week but did not initially land a contract. He will now look to replace Jones, another pass-catching specialist who has yet to make his NFL regular season debut.

Jones played well in the preseason but was always a long-shot to make the roster, especially with Atlanta keeping only two running backs on the roster.

The Falcons will face the Baltimore Ravens this weekend on Sunday Night Football. The Ravens aren't expected to have QB Lamar Jackson, while Atlanta is coming off of back-to-back prime-time wins.

Check back Wednesday for the team's first injury report of Week 5.
