Eagles RB depth chart: Will Shipley poised to play big role after Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby injuries

Here's the latest on the Eagles' RB depth chart after Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby were cut down with injuries.

Four weeks into the 2026 season, one thing has been laid abundantly clear: the Eagles attack looks far less high-powered than it once appeared.

Nick Sirianni's side has struggled to produce points in recent weeks. In Week 3, Philadelphia mustered a single touchdown en route to defeat against the Bears . One week later, the Eagles' offensive torpidity resurfaced — Philadelphia finished with fewer than 200 yards of total offense for just the second time in five seasons.

Much of those toils stem from injuries. Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley have been stricken by poor health as of late, leaving them off the field for the time being.

Barkley's absence, in particular, could prove devastating, especially given Philly's lack of depth in that position.

With that, here's what you need to know about the state of the Eagles' RB room after injuries swept through their ranks.

The injuries continue to pile up in Philadelphia's backfield. Barkley left the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams prematurely with a hamstring injury. The ailment isn't expected to keep him out for long; according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Barkley is considered week-to-week with the ailment. He could struggle to be ruled fit in time to take part in the Eagles' Week 5 game against the Jaguars in London.

Bigsby had emerged as Philadelphia's RB2, fielding the lion's share of snaps after Barkley exited the game. He, too, was cut down by injury on Sunday, though, sustaining an injury to his core. He'll undergo surgery to repair an issue with one of his muscles and head to the injured reserve list.

With Barkley and Bigsby on the mend, that leaves only third-stringer Will Shipley to field carries in Week 5. The Clemson product has featured sparingly since entering the league, only amassing 182 yards across three seasons. He has never amassed more than 10 carries in a game and has failed to find the end zone yet in the regular season.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his viability, Philadelphia has few other options to go to after Barkley and Bigsby's injuries. The franchise doesn't even have a running back listed on its practice squad.

Assuming the organization doesn't try to rush Barkley back in Week 5, things could look a little scarce for the Eagles' RB room on the other side of the pond.
