Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes have put more than $1.6 million into a major youth-focused partnership, while their wider foundation work has reached more than 20,000 students through its reading program. The couple’s 15 and the Mahomies Foundation has backed projects in Kansas City and Texas, including a $1.625 million commitment to Boys & Girls Clubs of America and a $1 million inclusive playground in Kansas City. Their work also includes literacy, youth sports, food support and grants to local charities. For Mahomes, the focus on children has a personal link, especially through Brittany’s experience with youth clubs growing up.What inspired Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes’ focus on childrenPatrick Mahomes founded the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation in 2019 with a focus on improving children’s lives through health, wellness, education and support for communities that need resources. Over the years, Brittany Mahomes has also become closely involved in the foundation’s work. One of the biggest steps came in October 2023, when the foundation announced a multi-year partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The commitment included $1.625 million in funding for clubs in communities connected to the Mahomes family, including Greater Kansas City, Lubbock, Tyler and Whitehouse, Texas. The foundation also pledged $1,500 for every touchdown Mahomes scored during each regular NFL season. The connection was especially personal for Brittany, who used Boys & Girls Club resources when she was younger. Patrick explained why that mattered when the partnership was announced.“We are truly excited to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of America by investing in the future of children,” Mahomes said. “Kids who attend a Club, like Brittany once did, are provided with the necessary tools and resources to help this generation not only thrive but lead with compassion and purpose.”The money was meant to support improvements at Boys & Girls Club facilities and expand opportunities for young people. In late 2024, clubs in Greater Kansas City and Lubbock also renamed facilities in recognition of the foundation’s support, while a Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas/The Mentoring Alliance site was set to provide scholarships for up to 300 young people each year. How has the foundation helped students through readingThe partnership is not the only part of the foundation’s work. Its Read for 15 program has become one of its most visible education efforts. The initiative encourages students to read for at least 15 minutes a day for 15 weeks. More than 20,000 students have taken the challenge, according to a 2025 update from Lead to Read KC. Earlier foundation figures showed 19,500 students had pledged to take part, with participating schools reporting a 12% increase in reading scores. That work has also brought Mahomes directly into Kansas City schools. In 2023, nearly 2,400 elementary students from 16 schools attended a Read for 15 rally where Mahomes spoke about the value of reading outside the classroom. The foundation has also used its platform to support youth beyond classrooms. Its programs have included youth volunteering, sports opportunities, food support and grants for community groups. In 2024, for example, the foundation partnered with Pete’s Garden on Kids Feeding Kids, a program involving culinary students preparing meals for families facing food insecurity. For the 2024-25 school year, more than 2,500 students were involved in that program and helped prepare and distribute more than 20,000 meals. That gives the foundation’s work another layer beyond direct donations: young people are also being encouraged to take part in helping their own communities. The foundation has also supported other causes connected to children and families, including education, athletics, children’s health, disability services and food access. What did Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes build in Kansas CityOne of the foundation’s clearest physical projects can be found at Martin Luther King Jr. Square Park in Kansas City. The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation gave $1 million toward the transformation of the park, helping create an inclusive playground designed for children with different physical and mental abilities. The project was developed with Kansas City Parks and Recreation and opened in August 2021.The playground includes accessible play equipment and sensory features, giving children with different needs a place where they can play together. The project also incorporated elements connected to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. When the playground opened, Patrick Mahomes kept his message simple: “This is y’all’s park,” he told the crowd. “This is just the beginning for Kansas City’s future and the future of the kids in Kansas City, hopefully it will keep going.”The foundation’s support has also reached local charities through its annual gala. At its fifth annual gala in 2024, more than 850 supporters attended and $1.077 million was granted to 20 Kansas City charities.Brittany Mahomes later shared her reaction to the event, writing, “Truly a blessing to be able to make an impact in these communities!”Where else has the Mahomes foundation directed its moneyThe gala continues a pattern that began with the foundation’s first major event in 2019. That night, more than $600,000 was raised, while 15 Kansas City-area charities received $15,000 grants each through the foundation’s 15 for 15 program. The foundation has since expanded its list of causes. It has supported groups working in education, athletics, children’s health, disability services, food access, literacy and community support. Its work has also moved into food allergy awareness. In 2024, the foundation partnered with Food Allergy Research & Education on the 15 and FARE initiative in Kansas City. The program is aimed at improving access to food allergy resources and training for restaurants, schools and community food banks.Taken together, the numbers show that the Mahomes family’s charitable work is not limited to one large donation. The $1.625 million Boys & Girls Clubs commitment, $1 million playground contribution, literacy program and local charity grants have created several different ways for the foundation to reach children and families. For Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, much of that work is tied to places that shaped their own lives. Kansas City became Patrick’s professional home, while Texas remains closely connected to both of them. Their foundation has used those links to direct money and programs toward children, schools, clubs and community groups in those areas. The football career may be what made Patrick Mahomes a household name, but the foundation’s work gives his name a presence far beyond the NFL. More than 20,000 students have taken part in Read for 15, while other programs have provided meals, grants, youth opportunities and accessible spaces. Those projects show where the couple has chosen to put its attention: giving children more support, more opportunities and places where they can take part.Stay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
