Indianapolis Colts defensive linemen Grover Stewart and Arden Key shared their thoughts Thursday on DeForest Buckner getting traded to the San Francisco 49ers this week.

When asked by reporters about their reaction to the news, Key yelled, "F--k," and Stewart followed up by saying, "That explains it right there. Nah, that really hurt me, though. Seeing my guy going back home and stuff like that, it hurt me."

On Tuesday, the Colts made two blockbuster trades, sending Buckner to the 49ers and guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for draft picks.

The struggling Colts are off to a 2-5 start and are not trending toward playoff contention, and after the firing of general manager Chris Ballard last week, the floodgates opened for a fire sale.

Bucker, 32, was arguably the Colts' best defensive player, recording four sacks, 31 tackles and four tackles for loss in seven games this season.

A three-time Pro Bowler and one-time First Team All-Pro, Buckner has registered 75.5 sacks in 158 career regular-season games.

Buckner began his career with the 49ers, spending four seasons in San Francisco before getting traded to Indy in 2020.

While Buckner enjoyed a lot of individual success with the Colts, he is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of the season, which made him expendable for a team seemingly entering a rebuilding phase.

Now, Buckner has a golden opportunity to contend for a Super Bowl upon returning to the Niners, as San Francisco has the second-best record in the NFC at 6-1.
