Kyle Juszczyk's Fine For Chugging Celebration Rescinded by NFL After 49ers FB's Appeal
San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk has successfully appealed his fine for celebrating a Week 2 touchdown against the Miami Dolphins by miming chugging a drink.
San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk has successfully appealed his fine for celebrating a Week 2 touchdown against the Miami Dolphins by miming chugging a drink.
The NFL rescinded the $14,926 fine Wednesday after concluding Juszczyk "was simulating drinking a juice box, not a beer," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The league noted Juszczyk "stated that the fine is hypocritical with the amount of Bud Light sponsorships surrounding the NFL," per Schefter.

The initial penalty was in response to Juszczyk's touchdown celebration Sept. 20 in the third quarter of a win over the Dolphins.
The NFL sent Juszczyk a letter after the game saying his "imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste," per Schefter .
Juszczyk told reporters he intended to appeal the decision alongside a $20,033 Week 1 fine for unnecessary roughness and use of his helmet in a Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner .
"I don't know how else to say it. I wasn't drinking beer in my celebration... when I celebrate, I celebrate by drinking juice, and it's been that way for years," Juszczyk told reporters after the Dolphins game (h/t broadcaster Ben Ross).
Juszczyk later added he felt even a beer-drinking celebration would not have been worthy of fine because of the NFL's endorsement deals with Bud Light, including the naming rights for a section of the concourse at Levi's Stadium (h/t 95.7 The Game).
Juszczyk appealed his fines in a Sept. 29 meeting with NFL representatives. He said later that week he thought things were "going to work out okay," per Wagoner .
The rescinding of the fine isn't the only good news Juszczyk has received recently. Schefter reported Monday the knee injury suffered by Juszczyk in a Week 4 win over the Denver Broncos was not a season-ending issue but rather a sprain and bone bruise expected to sideline him for two to three weeks.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday Juszczyk's absence could create more opportunities for tight end Brayden Willis.
Willis will be expected to join Luke Farrell and George Kittle in covering for the Niners' injured star fullback when the team works on holding onto its NFC West lead without Juszczyk this Sunday at the Seattle Seahawks.
