The Los Angeles Chargers are off to a disastrous start, and Mike McDaniel's offense has been the main reason for the team being 0-4.

Naturally, his struggles have led to fans calling for his firing, but he understands that it's part of the job.

"When you have high expectations and you're getting the results we're getting and you're 0-4, that's pretty standard operating procedure," he told reporters Thursday. "I would be foolish, or I would feel entitled, if I didn't expect there to be disappointment."

"And so, if you want things to change and you want narratives to change, you have to change them through action collectively. If our results are better, that's the only thing that matters. So it's pretty easy for me to focus on what I need to focus on."

The Chargers came into the season as a candidate to reach the Super Bowl, but now, they'd be lucky to reach the playoffs.

McDaniel, who took over as offensive coordinator this offseason after being fired by the Miami Dolphins, has an offense that ranks 28th in points per game (16.8).

Quarterback Justin Herbert ranks 21st in passing yards (816) and is tied for 22nd in passing touchdowns (4). His six interceptions are tied for the second-most among quarterbacks through four games.

McDaniel crafted some of the best offenses in recent memory in Miami, but he hasn't had the same success in Los Angeles thus far. Things won't get any easier this week as the Chargers face the Denver Broncos.
