Can Joe Milton save Philadelphia Eagles? Former New England Patriots QB’s college stats offer hope amid Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee nightmare

Joe Milton is a 26-year-old quarterback who played college football for Michigan and Tennessee. The New England Patriots drafted him in 2024 as their sixth-round, 193rd overall pick, the same year they selected Drake Maye as their first-round, third overall pick.Joe Milton served as a third-string QB behind starter Jacoby Brissett and fellow rookie Drake Maye. After a 4-13 season, New England let head coach Jerod Mayo go. Then, in the 2025 offseason, the Patriots traded Joe Milton to the Dallas Cowboys.Dallas Cowboys’ Joe Milton stats highlight limited NFL opportunitiesJoe Milton represented the Dallas Cowboys for their 2025 campaign. He played behind longtime quarterback Dak Prescott, recording 15 completions on 24 attempts for 183 yards, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions in 4 games. The Jerry Jones’ team signed Milton to the practice squad for its 2026 campaign. He has yet to get a consistent opportunity to prove himself in the league.Philadelphia’s QB crisis deepens amid Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee strugglesThe Philadelphia Eagles had a rough start to the 2026 season at quarterback. They had their Super Bowl-winning Jalen Hurts as the starter. But he finished with two wins and three losses. Not just that, he also suffered from season-ending bilateral lung clots. He was asked to stay awake before a London game as a precaution for the clots.Facing a brutal season-failure fate, Nick Sirianni’s team then turned to Tanner McKee to save them from catastrophe. Unfortunately, McKee brought them losses after losses - three in total. The Eagles are currently on a six-game losing streak in the 2026 season.Even Delaware News Journal’s Martin Frank reported that McKee is what he is - a backup quarterback who can get the team through a game - but not necessarily win that game.Joe Milton’s dual threat ability could give Eagles hopeThe Philadelphia Eagles are now hoping that Joe Milton could turn their 2026 season around. It’s highly unlikely with just 10 games left in the regular season -considering his NFL stats. But if we consider his college stats, he could bring back his dual-threat QB magic on the gridiron. Isn’t Jalen Hurts also a dual-threat QB?Anyhow, Milton accumulated 400 completions on 614 attempts for 5,353 passing yards, 37 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, along with 174 carries for 661 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns in 43 games played across six seasons for Michigan [2018 to 2020] and Tennessee [2021 to 2023].One of those years, he even suffered an ankle injury. But still, his college stats look promising. As for his NFL stats? He amassed 424 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions, along with 66 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown in 5 games.
