Bears acquire DT Jeffery Simmons from Titans for a package which includes 2 first-round picks
Simmons is a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler.
The Chicago Bears have acquired three-time All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans, in a trade that was announced Thursday .
As part of the deal, the Bears are also receiving a 2028 fifth-round draft pick and are sending Tennessee first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, plus a 2027 fourth-round pick.
"There are few people like Jeff Simmons. We are forever grateful for all he has given this team and this city," Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement. "His formidable presence on the field was surpassed only by what he did off it. He gave Nashville more than football. The Give 'Em A Reason Foundation has changed lives in Middle Tennessee and in Mississippi, and I have no doubt it will continue to wherever he goes. Jeff — thank you. For how you played, how you led, and how you represented our team."
Simmons, 29, is joining a Bears defense that has allowed the eighth-fewest total yards (313.4 per game), third-fewest rushing yards (87.6) and ninth-fewest points (20.4), plus has recorded the fifth-most sacks (18) through seven weeks.
Through seven games this season, Simmons has four sacks, 38 total tackles and one forced fumble.
As his name continually popped up in the rumor mill ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, he said this week he has not heard anything from the organization and that he expected to remain in Tennessee. One phone call has changed everything.
Simmons was a first-round selection out of Mississippi State by the Titans in 2019. Since he entered the NFL, he's been a nightmare for defenses and quarterbacks. In 106 career games, the four-time Pro Bowler has 46.5 sacks, 414 total tackles and 72 tackles for loss.
In June, Simmons signed a three-year, $105.8 million contract extension with the Titans with $100 million guaranteed.
The 5-2 Bears have won four of their last five games and sit in second place in the NFC North behind the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.
