The NFL season is approaching the halfway point, and the calendar has turned to November. While games haven't been inundated with wintry conditions just yet, the weather has started to turn.
This past Sunday, for example, we saw rain and mud impact a game that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won without completing a pass.
Even when the weather has been fair, though, games have been very unpredictable this season. That trend is unlikely to change in Week 9, which will open with the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.
Here, we'll take an early look at the Week 9 slate, the latest odds, and the most accurate forecast information from The Weather Channel to make a few predictions.

Thursday's opener will be an interesting one. The Jaguars have played like legitimate Super Bowl contenders this season, while the Ravens have struggled to find consistency. To make matters worse, Baltimore recently placed Lamar Jackson on injured reserve with a thumb injury.
Backup Tyler Huntley is also injured, and third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano is dealing with an ankle injury.
"Expect him to have a chance to play on Thursday," Ravens coach Jesse Minter said of Fagnano, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley .
Starting a third-string rookie quarterback against an aggressive defense is less than ideal. However, Jacksonville is still on the road on a short week.
Action will resume on Sunday morning with the Cincinnati Bengals and Falcons in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, Spain.
Cincinnati has found another gear offensively over the last few weeks. While its defense remains a work in progress, the Falcons have been inconsistent offensively and may not be able to capitalize.
An exciting list of Sunday afternoon games includes an NFC West showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals. Seattle has a top-tier defense and has been tough to beat at home. However, Arizona may have found something in new starting quarterback Gardner Minshew. The line is awfully large for a divisional battle.
Fans will also get to see a surging Green Bay Packers team against the New England Patriots. New England's defense should keep the Patriots in it at home, but a dwindling supply of healthy receivers could hurt the Pats.
Sunday night's battle between the Buccaneers and Chicago Bears is particularly intriguing. Chicago's offense is one of the best in the league, and its defensive front looked championship-caliber on Monday night with new standout Jeffery Simmons in the lineup.
The Bucs, though, have looked good while leaning on their defense and ground game. The X-factor here is the health of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield, who only attempted three passes in Sunday's win over Atlanta.
The week will end with a pivotal matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota has arguably the top defense in the NFL, but the Bills have Josh Allen and an explosive offensive attack.
Can Kevin O'Connell coax a good performance from quarterback Kyler Murray against a vulnerable Bills defense? He'll have to if Minnesota hopes to upset Buffalo, even if it's a low-scoring game.
