Jeremiyah Love Injury Update, Latest News on Status for Cardinals vs. Rams amid Ankle Issue
The Arizona Cardinals will be without Jeremiyah Love for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Arizona Cardinals will be without Jeremiyah Love for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters on Friday that Love won't play this week because of an ankle injury he originally suffered in Week 4 against the New York Giants.
LaFleur added that the Cardinals are not currently considering putting Love on injured reserve, which would keep him out for at least four games.
Love's right ankle has disrupted his rookie season thus far. He suffered a high-ankle sprain in Arizona's preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Aug. 13.
After sitting out the final two preseason games, Love was able to play in Week 1 as the No. 2 running back against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has started each of the last four games.
In Week 4 against the Giants, Love aggravated the same ankle in the second quarter. He played the entire game but was only on the field for 30 of Arizona's 66 offensive snaps in a 36-24 loss.
Love was limited for the first two days of practice last week before being upgraded to a full participant on Friday. He started against the Detroit Lions, but ran for a season-low 22 yards on 12 carries.
The Cardinals listed Love as a non-participant in their first two practices this week.
Love's absence is another wrinkle for an Arizona offense that was already going into its first game without Marvin Harrison Jr., who was traded to the Houston Texans on Monday.
Tyler Allgeier will step into the role as Arizona's starting running back. The 26-year-old has run for 119 yards and one touchdown on 35 carries in five games this season.
The Cardinals have lost four straight games since their season-opening win over the Chargers. They are seeking their first victory over the Rams since Week 2 of the 2024 season.
