Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.

Ravens head coach Jesse Minter confirmed Jackson's status Friday, ruling him out for the matchup.

ESPN's Adam Schefter previously reported that Jackson had a "realistic chance to return for Sunday's game," with Minter telling reporters that Jackson was considered day-to-day. Minter added that Jackson is "working his butt off" and "doing everything he can" to return to the field.

Jackson was out for Week 5 as Tyler Huntley led the Ravens to an overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons.

He initially left Week 4's 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans with an ankle injury and didn't play in the second half, a concerning development for a Ravens' offense very much reliant on the dynamic quarterback's unique skill set.

While the Ravens didn't believe at the time that Jackson's injury was going to be a long-term issue, there was uncertainty over his short-term availability.

"I really don't think it's going to be crazy long term, but we'll see what happens," head coach Jesse Minter told reporters at the time.

There's no replacing a two-time MVP and three-time first-team All-Pro like Jackson, though the Ravens do have an experienced backup in Huntley.

"There's one Lamar Jackson, the guy's a two-time MVP," Minter said after Week 4. "And so I think for anybody to have to say we're being compared to Lamar is unfair and not realistic. I think [Huntley] as a backup quarterback in this league and even as a starter at times has shown the ability to come in and really kind of run the offense, make plays with his legs, be able to make plays on third down."

Injuries were also a concern for Jackson last season, as he missed four games due to a hamstring injury and a back contusion. Huntley started two of those games, leading the team to a 2-0 record. But the Ravens are obviously a much more dangerous team with a healthy Jackson.
