Christian Watson suffered a serious injury after exiting Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers, but it could not keep him away for too long.

After landing awkwardly after making a catch, the Green Bay Packers wide receiver walked off the field and into the locker room on his own power, but was taken to a local hospital for "precautionary testing," the team announced .

He was later cleared to leave the hospital and return to the sideline in dramatic fashion by the third quarter.

He was back on the field before the start of the fourth.

The initial injury came at the end of a long completion in the second quarter:

The team officially referred to it as a chest injury when Watson exited the game. He told Kaylee Hartun of Amazon Prime after the game that he didn't want to go to the hospital, but he was told that he needed to go after spitting up blood.

Watson was putting together a fantastic game before the injury, recording six receptions for 100 yards. His last play before exiting was a 53-yard reception off a pass from Jordan Love.

While the severity of the injury is not yet known, any time missed by Watson would be detrimental to the Packers' offense. The fifth-year receiver is well on his way to a career season, coming into Thursday's game with the seventh-most receiving yards (595), the second-most receiving touchdowns (6) and the third-best yards-per-reception average (17.5) in the league this year.

With the addition of his 100 receiving yards against the Panthers, Watson has now eclipsed his career-high in just seven games.

The Packers have had a middle-of-the-pack offense so far this year, averaging 328.4 yards and 20.6 points per game so far, and losing Watson would make things ever worse.

Watson, a second-round pick in 2022, has unfortunately dealt with injuries throughout his young career. He missed a handful of games as a rookie before playing just nine games in 2023 with various injuries. He played 15 games in 2024 but suffered a torn ACL at the end of the season, forcing him to miss the first seven games of the 2025 campaign.

Watson will look to avoid another serious injury this year as he looks to continue his breakout season.
