The San Francisco 49ers will place rookie wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling on injured reserve heading into Week 2, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .

An IR designation would remove him from the lineup for at least four games.

Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reported Stribling suffered a deltoid sprain and could miss a minimum of one month.

The Niners selected the 6'2" pass-catcher in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft, a choice that drew mixed reviews. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski gave the team an A grade, but ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. but thought it was one of a few "significant reaches."

Stribling had a five-year college career split across stops at Washington State, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss. In his lone season with the Rebels, he had 55 receptions for 811 yards and six touchdowns.

Because of his injury, Stribling was limited to 21 snaps and didn't get targeted in San Francisco's 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.

Quarterback Brock Purdy figures to lean heavily on a pair of veteran wideouts, Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel Sr., moving forward until Stribling is back. Demarcus Robinson could be a beneficiary of his absence as well.
