Tom Brady reportedly wants FOX Sports to cut his on air expletive from NFL pregame coverage
This is Tom Brady’s third year as an NFL broadcaster, but he still seems to have no control over his cursing!
This is Tom Brady’s third year as an NFL broadcaster, but he still seems to have no control over his cursing! The seven-time Super Bowl champion found himself in yet another awkward live-television moment when he dropped an expletive during FOX’s NFL pregame coverage. To top it off, he even directed the cameraman, whoever was recording him, or the channel perhaps, to cut that part off where he cursed. The New England Patriots legend once again blurted out an “oh, sh*t!” on air, thereby marking the second instance this season that the former quarterback forgot about his live microphone.Tom Brady swears on air for the second time, this time with Drew Brees and not Jayden DanielsIt’s one thing to speak your mind, and it’s another to say something expletive live on air. So many millions of people were listening to Tom Brady. So many people are trying to walk his path. And if he sets this as an everyday example - yes, who doesn’t utter that “oh, sh*t” at least seven times a day - but if the NFL broadcaster sets that as an everyday example live on air? It could become a norm…it could soon be on everybody’s tongue. Like, it’s extremely normal and natural to utter that expletive.Anyhow, unlike Brady’s previous incident involving the Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels - where he could not ask the cameraman or whoever was recording him to cut it, because he was playcalling - we could just hear him use that expletive, where he did say, “excuse me” immediately after uttering the expletive. But still that doesn’t change the premise of uttering an expletive live on air. As if it’s some podcast show where real emotions are expressed. Who’s to blame?Anyhow, this time, the reaction came during a lighthearted quiz with fellow NFL legend Drew Brees. The other broadcasters laughed it off, saying, “he’s learning.” How long will it take for the seven-time Super Bowl champion to learn how to not use an expletive on air? Just speculating here.Tom Brady drops another expletive word during FOX NFL Sunday segmentThe incident took place on November 1 during FOX Sports’ NFL pregame show. Legendary quarterbacks Tom Brady and Drew Brees participated in a quiz segment called “Who’s in Third?”The quiz tested their knowledge of various all-time NFL quarterback records. During one question, the seven-time Super Bowl champion was asked to identify the quarterback with the third-most career games with at least 300 passing yards.Drew Brees took up the first spot with 123 career games with over 300 passing yards, while Brady took up the second spot with 113 such performances. When they asked for the third spot, Brady inadvertently responded, “Brees!” Then someone told him, “Brees is No. 1, he can’t be 1 and 3.”Brady realized his mistake and immediately uttered, “Oh, sh*t!” Brady’s reaction quickly prompted Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw to burst out laughing - loudly.Brady then correctly guessed, “Peyton Manning,” as the third quarterback to have the most career games recording at least 300 passing yards - 93. But even if Brady guessed it right the second time, his “oh, sh*t” reaction was not reportedly forgotten by the fellow broadcasters. They reminded him of it at the end of the quiz round. “We let you get away with one, by the way, Tom,” said one. “Hey, that’s what live TV is about. You know it’s live,” said another. “He’s learning. He’s learning,” commented a third.Jayden Daniels injury replay leaves Tom Brady stunnedThe very first trigger of the expletive word “oh, sh*t” came during September 20’s week 2 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. While calling the game, Tom Brady reacted to a replay of Jayden Daniels’ elbow injury. Daniels’ arm bent awkwardly as he fell to the ground to brace himself after an offensive lineman stepped on him.Looking at the shocking replay, Brady blurted out the expletive word, “oh, sh*t.” But he immediately apologized to his listeners, “Excuse me. I was not expecting to see that.”Tom Brady could face FCC consequencesFirst in September 2026, then in November 2026. Tom Brady’s repeated slip-ups raise questions about broadcast regulations.According to Front Office Sports, the Federal Communications Commission prohibits indecent and profane language on broadcast television between 6 AM and 10 PM, especially when children could be watching. If broadcasters violate its rules, the FCC could investigate complaints and issue warnings, admonishments, or fines. However, there has been no confirmation of disciplinary action against the NFL legend following either of the two incidents in which he uttered the expletive in haste. As if speaking your mind. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is currently in his third season as FOX Sports’ lead NFL analyst. He signed a 10-year, $375 million broadcasting agreement with the network. His current verbal slip is yet another viral moment from his short-spanned broadcasting career. “He’s learning,” remember?Get the latest Sports News and Live updates. Download the TOI app.
