Micah Parsons has taken aim at NFL officials after the Green Bay Packers suffered a narrow 20-17 defeat to the Detroit Lions, with a controversial roughing the passer penalty becoming a major talking point.
The Lions secured victory with a last-second field goal from Jake Bates, but the officiating attracted plenty of attention following two disputed penalties against Green Bay.
Parsons was watching from the sidelines as he continues to recover from a torn ACL, but that did not stop the Packers' pass rusher from making his feelings clear on social media.
Micah Parsons questions NFL's roughing the passer calls
Parsons shared his frustration on X, tagging both the NFL and its officiating account after officials penalised Packers defensive lineman Karl Brooks for roughing the passer late in the fourth quarter.
He wrote: "@NFL, @NFLOfficiating let's just go to flag football if every time a QB gets touched it's roughing the passer!"
The call came after Brooks made contact with Lions quarterback Jared Goff following an 18-yard completion to tight end Sam LaPorta. The 15-yard penalty helped Detroit continue its drive before Bates delivered the winning field goal.
Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady also questioned the decision while working as a Fox Sports analyst.
"My goodness. What is that?" Brady said during the broadcast. "There's no way!"
Fox rules analyst Dean Blandino also backed the criticism, saying: "That's teach-tape tackle. That's not roughing the passer."
It was not the only disputed decision, with Packers defender Brenton Cox Jr. also penalised for roughing Goff earlier in the contest.
Parsons could face a fine for publicly criticising the officiating, according to reports, although no punishment had been confirmed. A suspension is considered unlikely.
Green Bay also had opportunities to win the game, with two missed field goals from Trey Smack and a crucial fourth-quarter interception thrown by Jordan Love contributing to the defeat.
Parsons has now missed seven consecutive games while recovering from his ACL injury, leaving the Packers to wait for his return as the debate over the officials' decisions continues.
