Falcons sign former Eagles tight end to practice squad
Former Eagles TE E.J. Jenkins signs with Falcons practice squad
The Atlanta Falcons pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the 2026 NFL season by knocking off the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. There's no time to celebrate, though, and the Falcons have already started tweaking their roster for this weekend's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .
On Monday, the team signed veteran tight end E.J. Jenkins to the practice squad and released undrafted rookie Jack Velling in a corresponding move. Jenkins, a former undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech, spent the last three seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 27-year-old has appeared in 16 career games for the Eagles, recording one catch for seven yards. Jenkins has primarily contributed on special teams over his three years in the league.
Velling signed with the Falcons following the 2026 NFL Draft and played well in the preseason. The former Michigan State standout had six catches for 41 receiving yards and one touchdown in three preseason games.
The Falcons still have an opening on their practice squad, so don't be surprised to see another move before Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here's a quick rundown of Atlanta's 53-man roster and practice squad going into NFL Week 8.
