Anthony Davis Trolls Luther Burden During IG Beef, 'Heard You Ain't Wanna Play Today Champ!'
After taking some flak for not supporting his hometown Chicago Bears, longtime Green Bay Packers fan and NBA superstar Anthony Davis got the last laugh.
After taking some flak for not supporting his hometown Chicago Bears, longtime Green Bay Packers fan and NBA superstar Anthony Davis got the last laugh.
Prior to the rivalry game, Davis made a friendly jersey challenge to Dyon Brooks on Instagram . After the Packers defeated the Bears 31-7 on Sunday, Chicago wide receiver Luther Burden III commented on Davis' post. Davis then responded by trolling Burden, commenting, "Heard you ain't wanna play today champ!"
Davis was referring to Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin's fiery shots at Burden when he told reporters after the game, "He quit today. He didn't wanna play no more."
Burden made himself a target for the Packers and fans like Davis after he provided bulletin-board material ahead of the Week 5 matchup. When asked about Bears head coach Ben Johnson's message before facing their NFC North rivals, Burden told reporters , "He wants to beat them really bad like everyone else in the room, like every Chicago fan. Beat them real bad, and make them quit."
Instead, Green Bay made a statement with Sunday's victory, forcing five turnovers and shutting out Chicago for the entire second half to secure the win. Burden led the Bears with 47 receiving yards on four catches, but his team couldn't overcome its slew of mistakes. Chicago was also playing without star quarterback Caleb Williams for a third straight game while he recovers from a hamstring injury.
Sunday's performance was a cause for celebration for Packers fans like Davis, who had also proposed a challenge to comedian Dyon Brooks in which the losing fan has to wear the winning team's jersey.
At 3-2, Green Bay is now tied with Chicago and the Detroit Lions for the second-best record in the NFC North behind the first-place Minnesota Vikings, who are one of three remaining undefeated teams at 5-0.
Davis will be hoping to watch the Packers earn their third straight win when they meet the Dallas Cowboys (2-3) on Sunday Night Football in Week 6.
