When the Philadelphia Eagles head into Week 6, they'll likely do so with their fourth-string running back as their starter. Third-string running back Will Shipley reportedly sustained a partial tear of his plantar fascia during Sunday's game and is expected to miss weeks due to the injury, according to ESPN.

Shipley sustained the injury early in the team's 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Shipley finished the contest with five carries for six yards and a touchdown. With Shipley out of the game, Dameon Pierce received every single running back carry. He finished with 11 attempts for 14 yards.

The injury leaves the Eagles exceptionally thin at running back. Starter Saquon Barkley missed Week 5 due to an injured hamstring and backup Tank Bigsby was placed on injured reserve ahead of the contest due to a core muscle issue. Coming into the game, the team had to promote Pierce and Carson Steele from the practice squad for depth reasons. Steele did not record a touch in Week 5.

With Shipley sidelined, Pierce could see an even bigger role moving forward if Barkley is unable to return. Steele could also get run as the team's backup and Jaydon Blue could be the next running back called up from the team's practice squad.

Coming off a last-second loss to the Jaguars in London, the Eagles' task won't get much easier in Week 6. The team will take on the upstart Carolina Panthers, which are averaging 30.3 points per game.
