Predictions for Kansas City Chiefs vs. Seattle Seahawks in Week 7
Take a look at our predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs' matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on 'Sunday Night Football' in Week 7.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks are set to face off at Lumen Field for a highly anticipated Week 7 showdown on 'Sunday Night Football.'
At 5-0, Kansas City is among the NFL's last remaining undefeated teams, but will have its hands full against a Seahawks squad that is looking to defend its Super Bowl LX title this season.
Take a look at Chiefs Wire's staff predictions for Kansas City's Week 7 tilt with Seattle:
The Kansas City Chiefs are traveling to one of the NFL's loudest stadiums to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. Staying undefeated matters, but beating the defending Super Bowl champions on national television can elevate a team even more.
The offense will need to maintain a healthy mix of run and pass, though all attention will be on Kenneth Walker III as he returns to Seattle after leaving in the offseason. Patrick Mahomes will need big performances from his young receiver core, especially as Xavier Worthy looks to build on his breakout against the Los Angeles Chargers last week.
Defensively, the pass rush will be the team's most crucial weapon, and it needs to wreak havoc on Sam Darnold. Seattle relies on the passing game and its top target, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, so the secondary will be on alert. Special teams needs a bounce-back, strong performance in all phases this week after a shaky outing last Sunday.
The Chiefs face their toughest opponent of the season when they travel to Lumen Field for Sunday Night Football. The obvious storyline is Kenneth Walker's return to Seattle after the Seahawks opted not to pay the reigning Super Bowl MVP this past offseason. Kansas City currently leads the NFL with 159.8 rushing yards per game. The Seahawks rank 18th.
Seattle's loaded defensive front might slow down Kansas City's explosive running game, but expect the Chiefs to find ways to get Walker involved and create some big gains. The Seahawks also have a talented secondary, but free agent losses left holes Patrick Mahomes can exploit.
Kansas City's biggest advantage in this matchup is Steve Spagnuolo's defense against Seattle's offense. The Seahawks can't run the ball, and Sam Darnold has thrown as many interceptions as touchdowns this season.
The Chiefs' 'Sunday Night Football' matchup is going to be all about running back Kenneth Walker, who returns to Seattle for the first time since signing a three-year $43,000,000 contract with Kansas City in the offseason
The Chiefs' offense will rely heavily on Walker this week, as Seattle boasts the NFL's top-ranked pass defense. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is likely to struggle against the Seahawks' impressive defense, so fans shouldn't expect much of an aerial attack from the two-time MVP. Instead, expect Walker to get plenty of touches and, hopefully, a few touchdowns.
Kansas City's defense should expect a fight from Seattle's offense. The Seahawks ruled out running back Zach Charbonnet for Sunday's matchup, but quarterback Sam Darnold will still be a problem for the Chiefs' defense. Darnold looked less than impressive in the 17-14 loss to the Denver Broncos last week, but the nine-year veteran is expected to bounce back this week.
Kansas City has looked completely unstoppable through its first five games, but I expect the Seahawks to present a unique challenge for the Chiefs in this primetime matchup.
Not only will the Chiefs have to contend with Seattle's legendary 12th Man at Lumen Field, but injuries to offensive linemen and defensive backs have started to affect Kansas City's depth at key positions on both sides of the ball.
The Seahawks play an ultra-competent brand of football that will give the Chiefs very little margin for error, and if Patrick Mahomes throws more than one interception against Seattle's star-studded secondary, Kansas City may find it difficult to dig itself out of even a small hole.
I expect this to be a close and hotly contested game, but for the Chiefs to ultimately end up taking their first loss of the 2026 NFL regular season.
