Bengals News: Ja’Marr Chase reaches major NFL molestone

The Cincinnati Bengals have clearly found a great player in Ja'Marr Chase. He reached a milestone on Sunday that reminds us of that. He became the fourth quickest player in NFL history to reach 7,000 receiving yards .

Chase reached this milestone in 81 games. That beats out hall of famers Randy Moss and Jerry Rice who took 83 games to do it.

Beating those two isn't necessarily the main point. It just shows that Chase continues to be on path consistent with hall of fame receivers. It is obviously a long-term view of things, but it is nice to find a bright spot after such a tough loss.

There are certainly obvious areas to blame from this loss, but it takes a group effort to lose a game like that. Between the defensive struggles, special team blunders and the late turnover by Joe Burrow to effectively end the game, the blame can be passed however you see fit. It is certainly a humbling loss early in the season.

"Like last week with the penalties, we just can't shoot ourselves in the foot like that," Burrow said. "You can't win in this league when you do that. It's really hard. It's really hard. We could have overcome it, but it's hard to win like that."

Burrow and the team have some work to do before their next game. Better to have a soul searching loss in Week 3 though.

It is a little surprising to see the Bengals as favorites, even with it being at home. If the Jaguars learned anything from the Steeelers' offensive game plan then it could certainly be a long day at the office on Sunday.

Ekeler had a decent run with the team before injuries got in the way. Adding a veteran of his caliber to a group is never a bad thing. It will be interesting to see how much of a role he plays.

For those wondering why the Bengals almost certainly won't be looking to trade Joe Flacco ,these backup quarterbacks are playing more and more, and having someone as reliable as Flacco is a luxury.

After trading away Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals this offseason, Burns became that much more important rushing the passer. As always, such a terrible thing to see have happen to a player after working so hard for the season.
