DJ Moore Injured, Latest Rumors on Bills WR's Status and Fantasy Implications After Lions Game

Almost everything went right for the Buffalo Bills and fantasy managers with their players during the first half of Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions except when it came to wide receiver DJ Moore.

The Bills announced Moore was ruled out with a shoulder injury after he was taken to the locker room for X-rays. He suffered the injury when he was going for a pass in the first half and before the Bills took a 27-10 lead into intermission.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Moore's injury isn't "serious" and he has a chance to play in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers:

Buffalo added Moore from the Chicago Bears via trade this offseason as one of its major roster changes heading into the new campaign.

Moore has four seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards on his resume, and he is also someone who figured to provide veteran leadership for the receiving room. And it was a receiving room that could use more firepower.

For as excellent as Buffalo's offense is with Josh Allen leading the way, Khalil Shakir was the only wide receiver on the team who reached the 500-yard mark last year. Even he wasn't completely dominant with 719 receiving yards, underscoring the need for a game-changing receiver on the roster to unlock the Super Bowl ceiling.

Moore figured to be that game-changing receiver, and he was in the season opener against the Houston Texans with five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Fortunately for Buffalo, Thursday's game is just Week 2. That gives Moore a significant amount of time to ideally get back into the lineup before the stretch run for the Bills.

As for fantasy football, this is an opportunity for some of the Bills' other pass-catchers to put up numbers in the immediate future. Shakir is someone who should be in lineups as long as Moore isn't, while players such as Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman are at least worth consideration as flex plays in deeper leagues.

The tight end is arguably Allen's top option in the aerial attack with Moore sidelined. He just finished with five catches for 130 yards against the Texans and scored a touchdown in the first half of Thursday's game against the Lions.

Still, the Bills will be far more dangerous in the AFC with Moore on the field.
