Updated NFL MVP odds after Josh Allen’s epic 5 touchdown performance

Josh Allen is the favorite to win NFL MVP. It still very early in the season, but he's on pace for the type of historic season that we've only really seen from Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning during seasons they won the award and took their teams deep into the postseason.

Allen was the favorite after Week 1 and a dominant performance against the Detroit Lions in the Bills' first game at Highmark Stadium only increased his lead over Lamar Jackson . After his five touchdown game on Thursday Night Football Allen moved from +475 to +260.

While Allen's big night didn't affect Lamar Jackson's odds much, if at all, it did make Caleb Williams drop from +750 to +1100.

Jackson, Williams and the rest of the betting favorites will get a chance to respond on Sunday.

While Allen is on pace for a huge year, Williams and Jackson had huge season openers as well. Jackson threw for 324 yards and a touchdown and ran for another touchdown while Williams had his own Allen-esque two touchdowns rushing and passing to go along with 265 yards passing and 65 yards rushing.

The Bears will host the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. ET. Jackson and the Ravens will also host the New Orleans Saints in the early window. The next chance for either of those quarterbacks to make a statement in primetime will come in Week 3 when the Bears host the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. The Ravens will play on Sunday Night Football in Week 5.
