49ers' De'Zhaun Stribling ruled out of win vs. Rams with left ankle injury

The San Francisco 49ers ' bad injury luck followed them to Australia.

Rookie 49ers receiver De'Zhaun Stribling left Thursday's win over the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia, with a left ankle injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

After the game, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Stribling's ankle injury but said that his Achilles tendon was intact. The severity of the ankle issue is yet to be determined.

The 49ers have 10 days off before their Week 2 game at home against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.

Stribling, the 49ers' second-round pick (33rd overall), started the game against the Rams but left with what appeared to be a non-contact injury in the second quarter. After running a route, he came up favoring his left leg and was unable to put any pressure or weight on it as he came off the field.

Stribling then had to be helped into the blue medical tent before being carted back into the locker room.

The Niners were leading the Rams, 10-7 when Stribling left the game and went on to win 27-7 . He was not targeted on any pass attempts.

Stribling had a standout summer after being considered something of a minor reach in the 2026 NFL Draft. He suffered some brief hamstring tightness earlier this summer, but it didn't slow Stribling down as he elevated the Niners' WR depth chart. He caught 11 passes in two preseason games before sitting out the exhibition finale with a shoulder injury.

Stribling was not listed on the 49ers' Week 1 injury report.
