Myles Garrett had a concerning debut for the Los Angeles Rams as the star defensive end had no sacks, tackles or pressures.

After the 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, he admitted that he isn't 100 percent following knee issues during training camp.

"This was the worst version of myself that I've put out there, and I've got to be better," he told reporters after the game.

Garrett dealt with knee swelling during the Rams' training camp, with head coach Sean McVay calling him "85 percent" in mid-August. McVay also said at the time that the knee issue was "nothing to worry about," but the team was being cautious with him.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported last week that Garrett "didn't do much at all throughout camp," but that the Rams were confident about the reigning Defensive Player of the Year heading into Week 1.

"Myles Garrett had a bit of a knee issue, really didn't do much at all throughout camp," Fowler reported on SportsCenter . "They acquired him in June, brought him in. He hasn't been on the field a ton, but they're not really worried. They know he can roll out of bed and get sacks. He's been ramping up slowly but surely, lifting a lot of weights, now he's on the practice field. I'm hearing he should be good as well."

That report from Fowler explains a lot of what fans saw from Garrett on Thursday. He was far from his typical self and was even subbing in and out throughout the game.

The quiet night marked Garrett's first game since 2018 without recording a pressure.

The Rams sent a hefty package to the Cleveland Browns in June for Garrett, and they expected to get the same player who recorded a single-season record of 23 sacks last year.

That version of Garrett is surely on its way, but he clearly wasn't himself on Thursday.

"Get healthy," Garrett said of his goals heading into Week 1.
