‘Take That, Dan Orlovsky!’ — NFL Legend Terrell Owens Goes After ESPN Analyst, Settles Jalen Hurts vs. Justin Herbert Debate Once and For All

The greatness of a quarterback has never been an objective measure. But over the offseason, two stylistically polar-opposite players, Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert , have been at two ends of the spectrum for discourse around the position.

While some prefer the intangibles and undeniable success that comes with the Philadelphia Eagles star, others prefer the raw talent and arm strength of the Los Angeles Chargers QB1. But two weeks into the 2026 season, Terrell Owens is ready to settle the debate once and for all.

Terrell Owens Chooses Between Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert

Over the offseason, analysts staked their claim on the two quarterbacks. Despite their wildly different resumes, Hurts, with two trips to the Super Bowl, landed at 56 on the NFL's Top 100 players list of 2026, while Herbert was far ahead at 39.

Unfortunately, some were sticking with their priors even after a disastrous Week 1 for the Chargers. After they lost to the woeful Arizona Cardinals 26-14, former quarterback turned analyst Dan Orlovsky claimed that Herbert was what a "quarterback should look like."

Now, after a second-straight disastrous week, as they lost to the Las Vegas Raiders 26-14, while Hurts led the Eagles to a 2-0 start, Owens is ready to run a victory lap on the former Detroit Lions quarterback.

"I saw the discussion with Dan Orlovsky. First of all, the idea that Dan Orlovsky, I think he's changed his tune a bit," the Hall of Fame wide receiver claimed on the "Get To The Point" podcast. "If you see what Jalen Hurts has done over the last four or five years, just imagine, just see what he did this past weekend."

Going into detail about his accomplishments, he boiled it down to their Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans . Despite an underwhelming game, Hurts was able to lead a game-winning drive in the waning moments of the game to give the Eagles the 24-20 win.

"I think it was maybe a minute or two left in the game. That's not a lot of time. And when you talk about clutch quarterbacks, Super Bowl-caliber quarterbacks, quarterbacks to lead you to victories, when you talk about leadership, this is what this guy possesses."

After two weeks, even the raw numbers favor Hurts over Herbert. In PFN's Quarterback Impact Rankings , Hurts ranks at #11, while Herbert has fallen to the third-worst mark in the league.

"When you talk about a guy that can make all the plays with his feet, with his arm, that's what this guy, that's what he possesses in Jalen Hurts. This is what he's supposed to do. This is what you expect when you're a Philly fan. They expect these things. They don't want it to be this close. But I think he delivered. Take that, Dan Orlovsky. Take that."

It remains to be seen if this is the year that finally changes the perception of both Hurts and Herbert across media circles. But through two weeks, there hasn't been much doubt about who has been better among the two.
