College is such a short time, and what I learned today is really going to be valuable post-college and in life in general.”UMKC senior and former student-athlete Audrey Brown also highlighted the value of hearing directly from professionals.“There are ups and downs, but these Current players always push through,” Brown said. “Their story really inspired me.”UMKC deputy athletic director Ursula Gurney said professional mentors can give student-athletes perspectives that extend beyond university life. The KC Current’s connection with UMKC shows how professional sports ownership can have an impact beyond games and business.
