Tyler Shough and the New Orleans Saints fell to 1-3 following a blowout 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

New Orleans failed to find any offensive rhythm from the start, and Shough also found himself on the receiving end of criticism from former defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko after he failed to get the Saints going in primetime.

Breiden Fehoko Changes His Tune on Tyler Shough

In the Week 4 loss to the Falcons, the Saints quickly found themselves in a 14-point hole in the opening quarter. They fell 24-7 at halftime before ultimately suffering a heavy loss.

Shough also faced heavy pressure throughout the game and was sacked twice. Much of his statistical production came after the game was already out of grasp.

Shough connected with DeVaughn Vele for a three-yard touchdown with approximately two minutes remaining, while also leading a pair of 13-play drives in the fourth quarter.

The performance, though, was particularly disappointing for Fehoko, who was extremely confident in Shough heading into the matchup. Before the game, Fehoko even posted that fans would get to watch "the best quarterback in the NFC" play football.

However, Fehoko quickly changed his assessment after Week 4 Monday Night Football.

"I was so wrong about Tyler Shough. He's not it. Shedeur Sanders is definitely better than this cat," Fehoko tweeted.

Fehoko later acknowledged his previous comment in which he had called Shough the best quarterback in the NFC. "I messed up," Fehoko said.

Shough ended the night completing 30 of 48 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed twice for five yards, but his production was not enough to prevent the Saints from falling badly. His 75.6 PFN QB Impact Score ranks #17 in the league among 34 qualifying quarterbacks.

Fehoko also later revealed his current NFC South quarterback rankings, placing Shough third behind Bryce Young and Michael Penix Jr., while putting Baker Mayfield fourth.

Shough had previously delivered a stronger performance in the Saints' 35-27 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, throwing four touchdowns. Against Atlanta, he also recorded his second interception-free performance over his last three games, but he has also been sacked 12 times through four games.

Following the loss to Atlanta, Shough remained focused on how the Saints can respond rather than dwelling on the defeat. He acknowledged that the team could eventually look back at the game as a difficult moment, but added the importance of continuing to move forward and learning from the experience.

New Orleans will now have to regroup quickly, as the Saints' next challenge comes against the Minnesota Vikings and their Brian Flores-led defense.
