Packers Punishment Ruling for Zxavian Harris Visit amid LSU Eligibility Drama Revealed in New Rumors

The Green Bay Packers may not face any backlash from the NFL for working out defensive tackle Zxavian Harris the day before the league announced he was ineligible to play this season, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero .

Pelissero reported Saturday on his Substack "the Packers are not expected to be disciplined" after hosting Harris Tuesday for a tryout.

The NFL said in a memo sent to teams the following day Harris and tight end Dae'Quan Wright are "ineligible to visit, try out with or be signed by NFL clubs during the 2026 season" after signing with pro teams this summer before attempting to play for LSU.

"The NFL Players Association is looking into exactly what Harris, Wright, and any other potentially affected player did individually; the possibility of a grievance is still on the table," Pelissero reported.

The NFL's memo only specifically mentioned Harris, who was signed and waived by the New Orleans Saints, and Wright, who spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns before being cut from both rosters.

Both Harris and Wright previously said they have enrolled at LSU in hopes of playing for the Tigers this season.

Their playing status is now in limbo after both players were left off Lane Kiffin's season-opening roster amid the SEC's ongoing push to ban athletes with professional experience from returning to college competition.

The NFL noted their two-player list "is not inclusive of all 2026 draft-eligible players who returned to college," and that clubs should verify player eligibility with the league or risk discipline ranging from losses of draft picks to fines and suspensions for front office members.
