New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston has spent the majority of his career as a backup, but his leadership ability is second to none.
In fact, Giants head coach John Harbaugh went as far as to compare Winston to Abraham Lincoln and Michael Jordan.
"It's the best thing to be around, and it's genuine... He's a very strong Christian. He's a very good guy," Harbaugh told reporters Monday. "...He just doesn't let adversity get him down. It's like Michael Jordan or Abraham Lincoln. It's not how many times you get knocked down; it's how many times you get back up. You need to be plus-one in the 'get up' category."
Winston has faced his fair share of adversity throughout his career, from losing his starting job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to bouncing from team to team, but he's managed to stay positive through it all.
His ability to stay positive is perhaps why he's forged such a successful career as a backup quarterback.
With starting quarterback Jaxson Dart out for the season, Winston will have the chance to prove himself under center. He had his best game of the season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns in the tie.
He'll look to keep his momentum going into next week when he faces his former team, the New Orleans Saints.
