Mark Sanchez files guilty plea for charges related to stabbing incident in Indianapolis

Former Fox Sports analyst Mark Sanchez will plead guilty to charges relating to an altercation from last fall, according to Indiana court records. Sanchez, who was facing three misdemeanors and a felony battery charge, filed a motion for a guilty plea on Thursday.

In October, Sanchez was stabbed in Indianapolis after allegedly sparking an altercation with a truck driver while intoxicated. He was initially charged with three misdemeanors — battery, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication — and later charged with a felony for battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

It is unclear which of the charges Sanchez is pleading guilty to. Sanchez's attorneys are reportedly requesting that his sentencing hearing take place on Nov. 9 or Nov. 16 if his plea is accepted, per multiple reports.

Sanchez's jury trial was originally set for March 12, but was rescheduled at least five times, most recently to Sept. 8.

Sanchez, a former New York Jets quarterback-turned-analyst, was fired by Fox a month after the incident.

Perry Tole, the truck driver who Sanchez allegedly assaulted, also filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez and Fox.

Sanchez charged with battery after altercation

The incident took place early in the morning on Oct. 4, the day before Sanchez was set to call the NFL's Week 5 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders on Fox Sports.

Security footage of the incident , which officials later said matched Tole's account, showed Sanchez following Tole into an alley and confronting the 69-year-old truck driver. Tole told police that Sanchez smelled like alcohol and was slurring his speech, and said that he felt physically threatened as the confrontation escalated.

After arguing with Tole, Sanchez allegedly climbed into Tole's truck. A fight began when Sanchez allegedly threw Tole against a dumpster; the truck driver said he defended himself with pepper spray before pulling out a knife. Tole said he stabbed Sanchez in the chest in self-defense, while Tole sustained a large gash in his cheek during the fight.

Sanchez was released from the hospital a week after the incident and booked in Marion County jail.

In his first public comments, he said that he was "focused on the recovery" and said it would be a "long process." Sanchez initially pleaded not guilty to the charges.
