One month away from the NFL trade deadline, teams are monitoring the status of several players who could end up being difference-makers for playoff contenders.
One month away from the NFL trade deadline, teams are monitoring the status of several players who could end up being difference-makers for playoff contenders.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , Jerry Jeudy, Josh Sweat, Khalil Mack, Jermaine Johnson II and Will McDonald IV are among the key names receiving trade buzz after the first four weeks of the regular season.
From that group, Mack would make the most sense as a trade candidate. The Los Angeles Chargers don't appear to be going anywhere amid an 0-4 start; he is 35 and will become a free agent at the end of this season.
Jeudy would fit the bill of a clear trade candidate because Denzel Boston, KC Concepcion and tight end Harold Fannin Jr. have given the Cleveland Browns plenty of pass-catching options.
However, with the Browns off to a 3-1 start, subtracting a key player from their roster might not be what they are looking to do. Their offensive system also relies on three-receiver sets.
Per Sumer Sports , the Browns' 64.2 percent rate of running 11 personnel is the eighth-highest in the NFL right now. Jeudy is also owed $13.5 million next season and has just five catches for 62 yards so far in 2026.
Mack and Johnson, who is in the final year of his rookie deal, might be the easiest to trade given their current contracts. McDonald is owed a fully-guaranteed $14.5 million in 2027 on the final season of his rookie contract.
Even though Mack is at an age when his performance would normally be in decline, he remains a bright spot in an otherwise disastrous Chargers season. The nine-time Pro Bowler has five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits and three sacks in four games.
The Arizona Cardinals are in a difficult spot with Sweat because his contract runs through 2028. He has cap hits of $23.6 million in each of the next two seasons, though there's no guaraneed money left on his deal after 2026.
Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort was s aying as recently as August they had no plans to trade Sweat. A 1-3 start to the season might lead them to change their approach.
Sweat only has one sack through four games, but he recorded 12 sacks during the 2025 season.
Teams will start putting together their trade plans soon, if they haven't started already, since the deadline is at 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 10.
