Packers’ Week 3 blowout loss to Falcons has 2x Super Bowl champ ringing alarm bells

The Green Bay Packers suffered another heavy defeat Thursday, losing 35-14 to the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field.

The loss dropped Green Bay to 1-2 after three weeks of the 2026 NFL season. Atlanta also improved to 1-2 after controlling the game from the second quarter.

Damien Woody, who won two Super Bowl championships as an offensive lineman with the New England Patriots , thinks the Packers have serious problems across both sides of the line. Speaking on the NFL on CBS broadcast, he delivered a blunt assessment.

"They're in trouble," Woody said, per NFL on CBS on X . "Oh, the Green Bay Packers are in trouble."

Woody pointed directly at Green Bay's inability to establish the line of scrimmage. The Packers finished with only 17 rushing yards on nine carries.

"First of all, up front, they can't run the football," Woody said. "That's the most evident thing about the Green Bay Packers."

The lack of rushing production placed additional pressure on quarterback Jordan Love throughout the night. Atlanta eventually built enough pressure to disrupt Green Bay's offensive rhythm.

The Packers also struggled to protect Love against an aggressive Falcons defense. Atlanta held the Packers to 328 total yards while producing 498 yards offensively.

"They can't protect the quarterback, and tonight, they got absolutely gashed by the Atlanta Falcons ' rushing attack," Woody said.

NFL Network's Michael Robinson identified another issue involving Atlanta's defensive approach. He said defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich's pressure looks appeared designed to speed up Love's decision-making.

"If you make Jordan Love think that he's going to get pressure, you're going to already speed up his process," Robinson said, per NFL Network on X . "Then you get the mistakes."

Atlanta rushed for 242 yards, with Bijan Robinson producing 194 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Drake London added 194 yards as the Falcons repeatedly created explosive plays.

Robinson also questioned how Green Bay will function without Josh Jacobs, who remains on the Commissioner's Exempt List. The veteran running back's absence left the Packers without their primary rushing threat.

The Packers next face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road on Oct. 4. Green Bay must improve its rushing attack and protection before that matchup.

As Woody summarized, the problems extend beyond one position. "If you can't capture the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball, you're going to be in big trouble."
