‘Maybe Try Hooked on Phonics’ — Emmanuel Acho Fires Back at Super Bowl Champion to Reignite Media Beef

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams screamed in pain after a non-contact hamstring injury in Week 2, raising fears of a more serious injury. Fans and analysts have discussed Williams' reaction to the injury.

Many were sympathetic to his on-field show of emotion, while others accused him of being over-dramatic. The debate has also reignited a social media feud between Emmanuel Acho and Leonard Fournette .

Acho and Fournette have gone back and forth before. But this time their back-and-forth started when Fournette reacted to Acho's comments on Williams' injury . Apparently, Acho was not too pleased with Fournette's reaction.

"Here's my thing, Leonard. I am too old to fight anybody. But you know what's interesting? People who rush to fight only train their body and haven't trained their brain."

"Because I've trained my brain, why would I only resort to using my body? Leonard, I really question your intelligence because you can't even pronounce a four-letter word. Acho, not Echo," Acho began .

"The biggest word you probably even know is your name. But that's probably why they call you 'Lenny' because you probably couldn't even spell your own name… I'm not going to try and address you physically because you got that…"

"You're retired, so hang up the athletic dreams. Pick up a book. You don't need to be hooked on creatine, you don't need to be hooked on the weights, maybe try hooked on Phonics," Acho continued.

Acho and Fournette both played in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns selected Acho, a linebacker, in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent time with Cleveland, Philadelphia , and the New York Giants , but played regular-season games only for Philadelphia.

Fournette, by contrast, was a running back. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him fourth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. He topped 1,000 rushing yards twice, both times with Jacksonville. Fournette also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Buffalo Bills .

Both men had different levels of success in their careers. Acho last appeared in a regular-season game in 2014, while the Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 52 after the 2017 season. Fournette, on the other hand, won Super Bowl 55 with the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, Chicago confirmed that Williams suffered a hamstring injury. The team currently considers him week-to-week.

"I gotta still talk with our trainer here; we'll do that here shortly, and I'll have the lowdown from him, but it sounds like it's week-to-week and he will likely miss some time," head coach Ben Johnson said of the injury , via NFL.com.

The Bears will next face the Eagles on Monday Night Football in Week 3.
