Raiders Secure $75M in Public Funding For $158M Allegiant Stadium Upgrade Plan

The Las Vegas Raiders have made major progress in their goal of upgrading Allegiant Stadium.

Per the Associated Press , the Las Vegas Stadium Authority approved $75 million in public funds towards the $158 million upgrade to the stadium. The team will take on the rest of the cost to improve Allegiant Stadium.

"Allegiant Stadium is a critical community asset," said Steve Hill, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. "It is driving tourism right now more than ever at a time we need to drive tourism. We all know that the tourism drives the economy. Keeping that stadium at its current level is a high priority for all of us. It is the requirement and the law, but it's very important for our community."

The funds acquired on Wednesday specifically will go towards improving the path into the north entrance of the 65,000-seat stadium, which cost $2 billion to build and opened in 2020.

"The north side of the building has become one of the more pressure points in the guest experience," Raiders president Sandra Douglass Morgan said. "That infrastructure is stretched to capacity."

According to the AP, construction on the project isn't expected to start until after the 2026 season, and the team is aiming for a completion date in late 2028 or before the 2029 Super Bowl, which will be hosted by Allegiant Stadium.
