Josh Allen fittingly scores the first touchdown in Bills' brand-new Highmark Stadium

There was no chance that Josh Allen wasn't going to score the first touchdown in the Buffalo Bills ' new Highmark Stadium.

The Bills got the ball first in their inaugural game in Buffalo's new $2.2 billion stadium and Allen and his offense went right to work. They marched downfield. On a play that started at the Lions' 15-yard line, Allen rushed for 14 yards. It was obvious whose number was being called from the 1-yard line.

Allen got in on a quarterback sneak, and he's the easy answer to a trivia question: Who scored the first points in the Bills' new stadium?

Allen eventually accounted for five scores in a 41-31 romp over the Lions that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.

Unless Thurman Thomas or Andre Reed was coming out of retirement, Allen was the perfect player to score the first TD in the Bills' new stadium. The former NFL MVP has become one of the greatest players in Bills history. He made sure he played in the first preseason game in the new stadium last month. It made sense that he found a way to call his own number and score first in the new stadium too.

Allen got the first touchdown pass in the new stadium on the Bills' second drive. Joshua Palmer found himself wide open down the middle of the field and Allen hit him for a 43-yard touchdown and a 14-0 Buffalo lead.

The stadium provided a great atmosphere for the Thursday night game. On a historic night in Western New York, Allen made history that everyone in attendance will remember.
