Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes have used their 15 and the Mahomies Foundation to support children in different ways. On Nov. 11, 2022, the foundation turned its attention to families connected to the U.S. Navy SEALs. It gave the SEAL Legacy Foundation a $25,000 grant to support college scholarships for children of SEALs who made the ultimate sacrifice. The donation went beyond a single scholarship. It supported the Honored SEAL Legacy Scholarship Program, which helps children of fallen Navy SEALs cover college costs. The program honors more than 100 SEALs who have died since 9/11.Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes foundation backed a $25,000 scholarship fund for Navy SEAL childrenThe 15 and the Mahomies Foundation announced the $25,000 grant on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2022. The money went to the SEAL Legacy Foundation for its Honored SEAL Legacy Scholarship Program, which awards annual college scholarships for academic and related costs to children of U.S. Navy SEALs.The program carries the names of SEALs who lost their lives since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. According to the SEAL Legacy Foundation, each scholarship now carries a $5,000 award and can support tuition, vocational programs, and associate or bachelor’s degree programs. For Patrick, the project also carried a message about remembering the families left behind.“We are proud to continue to support the children of U.S. Navy SEALs through the Honored SEAL Legacy Foundation Scholarship Program,” Mahomes said in the foundation’s Veterans Day announcement on Nov. 11, 2022. “Honoring the work and sacrifice of the SEALs, and providing resources for their families is a core focus of the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.”That focus fits the foundation’s wider work with children and young people. Founded by Mahomes in 2019, 15 and the Mahomies supports programs tied to health, wellness, education and communities that need resources. Its charitable partners also include organizations such as the SEAL Legacy Foundation, Make-A-Wish, Special Olympics Missouri and Boys & Girls Clubs. The scholarship program has supported families of more than 100 fallen SEALsThe 2022 grant was not the foundation’s first connection with the SEAL Legacy Foundation. On May 25, 2020, 15 and the Mahomies announced funding for 15 scholarships through the same Honored SEAL Legacy Scholarship Program. At the time, the foundation said the scholarships would support families of more than 100 Navy SEALs who had died since 9/11.Mahomes also spoke about the foundation’s commitment in that May 25, 2020 announcement, saying, “no one will be left behind.” He made the comment while announcing the 15 scholarships for children of U.S. Navy SEALs through the SEAL Legacy Foundation. The program continues to serve SEAL families. The SEAL Legacy Foundation says its scholarship supports children of active-duty, retired, separated or reserve Navy SEALs. Each $5,000 award can help with tuition and other education costs. For Mahomes and the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, the $25,000 grant showed another side of their charitable work. Instead of focusing on football or athletic programs, the foundation helped families connected to military service and put education at the center of its support. That makes the 2022 Veterans Day contribution a notable part of the Mahomes foundation’s work, especially because the scholarship program continues to honor the children and families of SEALs who never came home.Stay updated with the latest Asian Games 2026 news, check the Asian Games medal tally and complete Asian Games schedule.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
