The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $78 million with defensive tackle Gervon Dexter on Wednesday, agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter .

The deal includes $46.5 million guaranteed, per Schefter.

Dexter is in the midst of his first season with the Falcons after they acquired him from the Chicago Bears in exchange for cornerback Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round draft pick on Aug. 30.

Dexter has been a key starter on an Atlanta defensive front that ranks No. 3 among all teams with a 61 percent pass-rush win rate, via ESPN .

In three games this season, the 24-year-old has amassed seven tackles, three quarterback hits, one pass defended and 0.5 sacks. He's also racked up 14 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus .

Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham discussed the new extension.

"Gervon is a young, ascending talent whose power, disruption and impact along the defensive line are difficult to find," Cunningham said Wednesday, per Tori McElhaney of the team's official website. "What's been just as impressive is the growth he's shown off the field as a man and a father. His passion for the game and commitment to his teammates are qualities we value highly, and we're excited to keep him as an important part of our defense moving forward."

Dexter was initially selected by the Bears with a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, operating in a rotational role as a rookie before becoming a full-time starter during his sophomore season in 2024.

He finished with 45 quarterback hits and 14 sacks across 49 total games throughout his tenure in Chicago.

Now, Dexter's long-term future in Atlanta is secure as the team looks to improve upon a 1-2 start to the 2026 season.
