New Cowboys Rumors Reveal Joe Milton's Replacement After Eagles Signed QB from Practice Squad
After the Philadelphia Eagles signed Joe Milton III off of the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad, the Cowboys have found his replacement.
After the Philadelphia Eagles signed Joe Milton III off of the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad, the Cowboys have found his replacement.
Per ESPN's Todd Archer , Dallas signed quarterback Kyle Trask to its practice squad. Trask was a second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
Milton backed up Dak Prescott last season but was waived before the 2026 campaign. After joining the Cowboys' practice squad in September, the Eagles signed him to their 53-man roster last week following Jalen Hurts' injury.
Report: Eagles Won't Be Punished for Hurts
Trask, a standout at Florida, has appeared in just seven games in his career, completing four of his 11 pass attempts for 28 yards. He last appeared in an NFL game during the 2024 season with the Buccaneers.
After being released by Tampa Bay ahead of the 2025 season, Trask joined the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad for the end of the campaign. He signed with the Carolina Panthers during training camp but was released during final roster cuts.
While Trask won't be a part of the Cowboys' active roster, he's likely an injury away from being promoted since Prescott and Sam Howell are the only two quarterbacks on the team at the moment.
Dallas is off to a rough start to the 2026 campaign, dropping to 2-4 with Sunday's loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Despite the team's overall struggles, Prescott has put together a solid season with 1,639 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions, but poor play on defense has once again been the story for the Cowboys.
Dallas will look to get back on track on Monday against the Eagles.
