The Jalen Hurts health scare story has gripped the NFL with serious concerns being raised about the players' welfare being shown by teams.
The Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback will not play again this season after it was discovered that he had blood clots in his lungs. How the diagnosis came about is what has really frustrated people around the league.
Hurts was allowed to fly to and from London despite there being an undiagnosed issue. That issue turned out to be blood clots which has now seen the quarterback forced to miss the remainder of the season.
Given the severity of the health scare, the NFL addressed the protocols taken by the Eagles' staff in a recent meeting with the media. However, Shannon Sharpe has been left furious with some of their answers.
Shannon Sharpe criticises NFL over Jalen Hurts assessment
The NFL has come to the conclusion that the Eagles did not violate the injury report policy and will, therefore, not be fined for allowing Hurts to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
"I love the NFL… but I hate when they do this. Don't do this," Sharpe said on the Nightcap show.
"If I'm not mistaken, the way I read it is that you wait till you get to London to do the MRI, and then you're like, 'Oh, okay.' Tell me the professional says that you should be flying even with a superficial blood clot. Wouldn't you think you would let him clear that up? Because knowing that it could travel to your lungs, it could travel to your heart.
Questions are going to be asked as the weeks go on as to why Hurts was allowed to travel and play in the London game despite the NFL's conclusion as Nick Sirianni passed on a number of opportunities to comment on the situation earlier in the week.
It is clear to see that former NFL stars like Sharpe have not been impressed with what they have seen unfold over the last few days.
