Decades before the dual-threat quarterback became all the rage in the NFL, Steve Young was doing it regularly. Casually, even. He would have fit right in with today's game with his perfect mix of accuracy, speed, and mobility.
Young had a rocket arm, a sprinter's legs, and a knack for turning broken plays into magical highlights. When he retired in 1999 after a 15-year career, he was a three-time champion, a two-time MVP, a six-time All-Pro, and a seven-time Pro Bowler.
Young has kept tabs on the NFL , including the latest trends and modern strategies. On "The Pat McAfee Show," he revealed the current coaches he would like to play for.

"I'd run down the street to play for Kyle (Shanahan). If I could go to Sean McVay, Sean Payton, and Andy Reid, I'd sprint to them," said Young.
"Those are the guys. Those are innovators. Those were the guys who were innovating back when the rules changed in 2018. They innovated, and now that people caught up with them, you know what they did? They innovated again and again. That's why I love them."
The 65-year-old icon added that he could see himself excelling in today's league , given his physical attributes and playing style.
"It's the era of the quarterback. It's like you've given all the rules to make them feel the power to be great," explained Young.
"This is my game, man! I wanna game like this. This is how I wanna roll. Drop back, rip it, be efficient, beat a man, and just start running around, eating up yards. Oh, it's a good game right now for quarterbacks."
He starred for the Los Angeles Express, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the San Francisco 49ers, amassing a 94-49 record.
Young would not need to reinvent his game to succeed in today's NFL. If anything, modern schemes might make his job easier. After all, for the legendary quarterback, it does not really matter what era it is.
