Cowboys WR, TE Get New Contracts Ahead of NFL Season Opener vs. Giants, Updated Salary Cap

The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly signed tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford to a three-year, $18 million extension that includes $12 million in guaranteed money, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Wideout Ryan Flournoy also signed a one-year, $6 million extension on Thursday night:

According to Spotrac the Cowboys currently have $23.3 million in top-51 cap space for the 2027 season, when Spann-Ford and Flournoy's extensions kick in.

Spann-Ford, 26, has spent the past two seasons with the Cowboys after being an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota, registering 18 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown in 34 games. He's largely served as depth behind Jake Ferguson, who has remained an important target for Dak Prescott.

Ferguson is under contract through the 2029 season, so barring a release for salary-cap purposes, he and Spann-Ford should be the one-two punch for the Cowboys at tight end for many years to come.

Flournoy, 26, has caught 50 passes for 577 yards and four touchdowns in 27 games across the past two seasons in Dallas.

Given the uncertainty surrounding George Pickens beyond the 2026 season, with his unrestricted free agency looming, a bigger future role in the passing game for several players could be in the cards. The Cowboys clearly envision Spann-Ford and Flournoy as two such players.
