The Atlanta Falcons made light work of the New Orleans Saints' defense in a 45-24 win on Monday night.
According to ESPN analyst Troy Aikman, Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley knew what was coming.
"He doesn't have any answers, and I think he knew it when we talked to him," Aikman said during ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcast (h/t Saints Wire's John Sigler ). "I think he knew. He didn't tell us, but the guys that are out, some of their big edge rushers and guys who can play the run and set the edge, they're not on the field."
The Saints' defense was without a few key members, including edge rusher Carl Granderson, his backup Anfernee Jennings, and linebacker Kaden Elliss. That made for an easy day at the office for Atlanta's offense.
Running back Bijan Robinson had a monster game with 145 yards and two scores, and Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 62 yards and found the end zone three times. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 223 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-20 passing.
The Saints' defense has been among the worst in the league this year, and the injuries on Monday only made matters worse. Staley will look to put together a better performance against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
