Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua left the team's practice with a calf injury Thursday, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop . However, the Rams are optimistic Nacua will play in Sunday's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter .
"Nacua, who is listed as questionable because of a calf injury, was feeling better Saturday, according to the source, who said: 'As long as there aren't any setbacks, we feel good about him being available to play,' according to Schefter. "Nacua underwent an MRI on his calf Thursday that came back better than the Rams had hoped, sources said. He did not practice Friday."
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the injury is believed to be "minor."
"My understanding is, after the tests, it was more minor than anything else," Rapoport said on Friday. "I wouldn't say precautionary, because it's not nothing, but at least not a significant injury."
Cornerback Trent McDuffie and linebacker Nate Landman are both questionable and didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday. Defensive lineman Myles Garrett, Poona Ford and Kobie Turner, wideout Davante Adams and tight end Terrance Ferguson are all on injured reserve. Kicker Blake Grupe is out for the season with a torn ACL.
The Rams came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations but has instead started 2-4 and risks falling out of the playoff picture altogether if it can't start stringing some wins together.
Health has been a concern for the young wideout in his career:
The 25-year-old already missed two games this season but has been fantastic when healthy, catching 37 passes on 52 targets for 417 yards and a touchdown. He's also rushed for a touchdown.
That Nacua leads the team in receptions and targets despite missing two games is an excellent reminder of how incredibly valuable he is to quarterback Matthew Stafford and the team's offense. Being without him against a scrappy Raiders team that's seeking to end a three-game losing streak would leave Los Angeles in fairly dire straits on both sides of the ball.
