Browns' Denzel Ward Purchases Guardians Minority Stake, Joins Travis Kelce, 'So Blessed'

Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward is now part of the Cleveland Guardians' ownership group.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter , Ward purchased a minority stake in the franchise on the heels of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce doing so in May.

Ward released a statement regarding his new involvement with the Guardians, saying, "Cleveland is my hometown. I'm so blessed to be able to show up for this city on the field and now as a part of the Guardians organization. I couldn't be more grateful to the Dolan family and David Blitzer for the opportunity to continue to pour into this community and give back to the best fans in the world."

The 29-year-old Ward was born in the Akron suburb of Macedonia, Ohio, he played his college football at Ohio State, and he has spent his entire NFL career in Cleveland after getting selected fourth overall by the Browns in the 2018 NFL draft.

Since entering the league, Ward has established himself as one of the top corners in the sport, earning five Pro Bowl selections and recording 18 interceptions and 104 passes defended over his eight NFL seasons.

Team success has proved elusive during Ward's tenure, though, as he has only reached the playoffs twice.

By comparison, the Guardians have been a playoff team in seven of the past 10 seasons and three of the past four.

They are currently in a battle for a playoff berth in the American League this season, leading the Toronto Blue Jays by one game for the final wild-card spot.

Expectations are not high for the Browns entering the 2026 NFL campaign, especially given their quarterback situation with Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, and after trading superstar pass-rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams.

However, with Ward joining the Guardians' ownership group under Paul Dolan and David Blitzer, he has a chance to win big this season, even if it doesn't happen on the football field.
