New 'Madden' Movie Trailer and Release Date Drops Featuring Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale

Some of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood are coming together to remember the legendary career of John Madden.

Amazon MGM Studios released the first official trailer for the upcoming biopic entitled Madden on Thursday. The movie stars Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage as the title character, as well as Academy Award winner Christian Bale as Al Davis.

The movie is directed by David O. Russell and also features Kathryn Hahn, Sienna Miller, John Mulaney and Shane Gillis.

This comes after Prime Video released a teaser for the film, which will be released on Nov. 18, that included Cage explaining what it was like to portray Madden:

" Madden is the celebration of a brilliant mind whose once in a century spirit and personality, partnership with his daring wife Virginia, lifelong friendships, and infectious love of people and football transcended the world of sports," the press release read.

The story of football is not complete without Madden.

He was a Hall of Fame coach for the Oakland Raiders for 10 seasons, finishing with a 103-32-7 record and a Super Bowl title. The Raiders reached the playoffs in all but two of his seasons at the helm as he and Davis built a dominant team that helped define a generation.

Madden did far more than reach the Hall of Fame as a coach, though, as he became one of the most iconic broadcasters in sports history and also inspired EA Sports' famous Madden video game that remains a key part of the cultural zeitgeist today.

While Madden died in 2021 at 85 years old, he remains one of the most important and influential people in the history of sports.

And the movie will look to capture some of that famous life and his football journey.
