Our second NFL week of the year is in the books, but unfortunately, it yielded a number of significant injuries, especially at the all-important quarterback position. After a hot start to the year, New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury against the Los Angeles Rams Monday night, for which he will undergo season-ending knee surgery. Jameis Winston is set to start for the Giants for now, though head coach John Harbaugh did not rule out the potential for the team to trade for a veteran. The Chicago Bears are also expected to be without their starting quarterback for now after Caleb Williams suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2. Head coach Ben Johnson dubbed him "week-to-week" on Monday, though the team did not yet officially rule him out for Week 3. That isn’t the end of their quarterback woes, however, as backup Tyson Bagent was placed in the concussion protocol earlier this week, which could force the Bears to start QB3 Case Keenum against the Philadelphia Eagles this week.Washington Commanders star Jayden Daniels also suffered a significant injury this week after dislocating his elbow for the second time since last season. He’s already been ruled out for Week 3 and is expected to miss additional time, though it’s unclear how much, as Daniels continues to gather opinions from specialists. Marcus Mariota will get the start in his absence. One team that is getting past a bad injury is the Falcons. After two weeks of disappointing outings from Cooper Rush, Atlanta announced on Monday that Michael Penix Jr. will start for the Falcons on Thursday against the Packers. A healthy Tua Tagovailoa is reportedly set to back him up.Follow along with Yahoo Sports for the latest NFL news, injury updates and more ahead of Week 3.
