New Jaxson Dart Injury Update, Latest Giants Rumors Ahead of Knee Surgery

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is reportedly set to undergo knee surgery on Friday.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported the surgery is expected to address Dart's MCL and meniscus.

Dart will be out indefinitely, but head coach John Harbaugh left the door open for a potential postseason return should the Giants make it that far.

"I think I said it. I said it. Regular season," Harbaugh said of Dart's absence. "Other than that, how do you know? It depends on the recovery. You can't pinpoint it."

During the Giants' Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Dart took a hard hit to his leg and was forced to exit the game. Though he reportedly lobbied to go back into the game, he did not return as New York lost 28-6.

Two days after the injury, it was reported that Dart suffered damage to his MCL, PCL and meniscus.

Dart threw for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions as a rookie, adding 487 rushing yards and nine scores on the ground.

Before Monday's injury, he started the season strong with a 230-yard, three-touchdown performance in a win over the Dallas Cowboys. That game gave Giants fans hope that the team was capable of a playoff run, but Dart's injury obviously threw a wrench in their plans.

While New York has a veteran backup in Jameis Winston, he struggled after coming in for Dart against the Rams, finishing 11-of-27 for 11 yards and an interception.

Winston is capable of big performances when he gets hot, but it's hard to say whether he's capable of leading a rebuilding Giants team to the playoffs.
